Why we give 24 hours of free access (and why it works)
We replaced lead forms with a 24-hour free trial. Here's what happened to our conversion rates.
We used to have a demo request form. Name, email, company, team size, product of interest, notes. Six fields. A submit button. A 'we'll get back to you' message.
Our conversion rate from form submission to paid subscription: 3.2%.
Then we replaced the form with a 24-hour free trial. Login, click activate, get full access for 24 hours. No forms. No waiting.
Our conversion rate from trial activation to paid subscription: 14.7%.
That's a 4.6x improvement. Here's why it works:
**1. The product sells itself.** When people can actually use the software, they discover value that no demo call could convey.
**2. Urgency drives engagement.** 24 hours creates a natural deadline. People don't 'get around to it.' They try it now.
**3. Lower friction = more trials.** We get 3x more trial activations than we ever got form submissions. More top-of-funnel means more conversions, even at the same rate.
**4. Self-qualification.** People who try the demo and don't subscribe weren't going to buy anyway. We just found out faster — no sales calls wasted.
The 24-hour limit is deliberate. It's long enough to explore the product thoroughly, but short enough to create urgency. After the trial, the path is clear: subscribe, or contact sales for enterprise features.
No slides. No sales calls. Just software.
