A 1,400-member grower cooperative was farming by the calendar instead of by the field — same fertilizer, same irrigation, same spray schedule on every acre. A farm management platform with IoT soil and weather sensors and per-field advisory turned guesswork into data, freeing $1.8M in input costs the first season.

Green Valley's 1,400 member farms covered 38,000 acres across three microclimates, but every grower was working off the same county-wide weather report and a fertilizer schedule printed in 2019. Over-watering was the norm — the cooperative's irrigation pumps ran $610K a year in electricity and water the agronomists knew was wasted, but nobody could prove which fields needed less. Pest outbreaks were spotted 5–7 days late on average, by which point a quarter of a crop could be lost. Buyers were also starting to demand farm-to-shelf provenance records the co-op couldn't produce without three weeks of manual paperwork per shipment.

/ What we built

We deployed our Farm OS platform with IoT soil-moisture, temperature and weather stations across a representative sample of fields per microclimate, a per-field advisory engine that turns sensor data and forecasts into daily irrigation, fertilization and spray recommendations, and a crop traceability timeline that records every input and harvest event against a verifiable field record. Growers get a mobile app with their fields' recommendations; the co-op gets a dashboard showing input spend, yield forecast and provenance packets ready for buyers. The platform went live in 10 weeks and replaced the printed schedule, the manual pest-scout log, and the three-week provenance paperwork.

A vertically integrated agribusiness running 12,000 acres of row crops had sensors everywhere and insight nowhere — six different vendor dashboards, no alerts, and a frost event that wiped out 800 acres the season before. A unified IoT command platform turned telemetry into action and paid for itself in one avoided event.

/ The challenge

Sunrise had invested heavily in IoT — soil probes, weather stations, canal flow meters, grain-bin temperature sensors — over 1,200 devices across 12,000 acres and 14 storage bins. But the data lived in six different vendor portals nobody checked daily, there were no alerts, and the agronomy team learned about problems when a manager called. The previous spring, a forecast frost wasn't caught in time and 800 acres of early-planted corn was lost — a $1.4M hit the board called 'preventable with the data we already had.' Grain-bin hot spots were spotted by smell, not sensor, and one bin fire the year prior cost $420K in lost inventory and repairs.

We deployed our IoT Command platform ingesting telemetry from all 1,200 existing devices into one dashboard, with anomaly detection that flags soil-moisture deviations, canal flow drops, and grain-bin temperature spikes, and a configurable alerting layer that pages the right person — the irrigator for a flow drop, the bin manager for a temperature rise, the agronomist for a frost forecast within a field's microclimate. Device health monitoring now surfaces failing sensors before they go dark, and a mobile app puts every field and bin's status in the field managers' pockets. The platform went live in 8 weeks and ingested data from all six existing vendor systems without replacing a single sensor.

A grain aggregator buying from 600 growers was losing contracts to competitors who could prove provenance, and tying up $2.7M in working capital on inventory it couldn't match to orders. A supply-chain platform with verifiable traceability collapsed the gap between bin and buyer — and unlocked the premium contracts.

Heartland Grains aggregated grain from 600 growers across four states into 22 storage elevators, then sold to millers, ethanol plants, and food brands. The problem was visibility: grain was commingled in bins with no record of which grower's crop went into which shipment, so when a national food brand asked for farm-to-shelf traceability as a condition of a $9M annual contract, Heartland couldn't answer. They lost the deal. Inventory was tracked on a whiteboard per elevator, working capital tied up in unmapped stock sat at $2.7M, and the trading team spent 30 hours a week reconciling what was actually in the bins against what the spreadsheet said was there.

We deployed our Supply Chain Management platform with lot-level grain tracking from grower delivery through bin assignment, blending and shipment, a verifiable traceability record that ties every shipment back to its source growers and inputs, and demand forecasting tied to buyer contracts so the trading team knows what to move and when. Growers check in deliveries on a mobile app, elevator operators record bin assignments on a tablet, and the traceability packet generates automatically when a shipment loads. The platform went live in 11 weeks and replaced the whiteboard inventory, the reconciliation spreadsheet, and the three-week manual process of assembling provenance documents for buyers.

A 2,400-cow dairy was running herd health, feed rationing, and milk production on three disconnected systems and a clipboard. A custom ERP built around the dairy's actual workflow surfaced $1.9M in trapped margin — mostly in feed waste, missed vet visits, and milk that missed its quality bonus.

Meadowbrook's 2,400-cow operation tracked herd health in a vet's app, feed rationing in a nutritionist's spreadsheet, and milk production in the processor's portal — none of which talked to each other. Feed was 58% of operating cost and was being over-delivered by an estimated 7% because rations weren't adjusted for each pen's production. Vet visits were scheduled on a clipboard at the parlor, and 1 in 9 health events was caught a full cycle late, costing an average of $340 per cow in lost production and treatment. Most painfully, Meadowbrook was consistently missing the milk-quality bonus from its processor — worth $1.2M a year — because somatic cell count spikes weren't tied back to the specific pen and cow in time to intervene.

/ What we built

We deployed our ERP System tailored to dairy operations: a herd module tracking every cow's health, lactation and breeding record with automated vet visit scheduling; a feed module that adjusts ration delivery per pen based on real-time production data from the parlor; and a milk module that ties somatic cell count and quality metrics back to the specific pen and cow, alerting the herd manager the moment a pen drifts. A single dashboard shows profit per cow, feed cost per litre, and quality-bonus status in real time. The platform went live in 13 weeks and replaced the vet app, the nutritionist's spreadsheet, and the manual quality-bonus reconciliation.
